At the Wood County Health Department, it is our mission to do everything we can so every neighborhood fosters health, not illness-and we take that responsibility seriously. Our health department is local government at its best, doing everything it can to help residents thrive.
Public health programs are essential to protect and enhance the health of the population and evaluation of those programs is an essential part of public health. Health improvement is what public health professionals strive to achieve. To reach this goal, we devote our skill -- and our will -- to evaluating the effects of public health actions. Effective program evaluation is a way to improve and account for public health actions that involves procedures that are useful, feasible, ethical, and accurate.
In Wood County we are partnering with the Survey Health of Wisconsin to measure data within Wood County. Using the data accumulated from the surveys done in Wood County, we will better understand the needs of the population we serve. Once we understand the needs, programs and policies can be implemented that will protect the residents of Wood County. We can fulfill our mission when we better understand the population we serve through the evaluation process.
